Before Receiving Tirzepatide:
- Have the water intake discussed and agreed with your health care provider.
- Limit how much alcohol you’re drinking. (Alcohol can have an effect on your blood sugar and there is a risk that it may drop too low in combination with Tirzepatide, especially if you’re a diabetic and or drinking on an empty stomach. Alcohol may irritate your stomach and worsen GI side effects when in combination with the medication.)
- Make sure your provider is aware of all medications you are taking including insulin or sulfonylureas which could increase your risk of low blood sugar. Talk to your healthcare provider about low blood sugar levels and how to manage them.
- If you take birth control pills by mouth, talk to your healthcare provider before you use Tirzepatide. Birth control pills may not work as well while using Tirzepatide. Your healthcare provider may recommend another type of birth control for 4 weeks after you start Tirzepatide and for 4 weeks after each increase in your dose of Tirzepatide.
After Receiving Tirzepatide:
- Exercise a minim of 30 min. per day even if it is just a walk.
- Have a healthy and balanced diet.
- Discuss any side effects like constipation, diarrhea, nausea.
